# Best Spray Foam Estimating Software Compared (2026)

Quoting spray foam jobs has changed. Customers expect a professional estimate the same day, often before you've left the driveway. Contractors still building quotes from a notepad, a calculator, and a spreadsheet are losing bids to crews who send a branded PDF from the jobsite.

This guide covers two things: how spray foam estimating actually works (the math a good tool has to get right), and an honest comparison of the software options in 2026, including where our own product isn't the best fit.

## How spray foam estimating works

Before comparing tools, it helps to know what they're automating. A spray foam estimate is not a line-item list. It's a materials-and-coverage calculation:

**Step 1: Measure the area.** Wall square footage, attic deck or roofline, rim joists, crawl space. Miss a section and the whole bid is wrong.

**Step 2: Convert to board feet.** One board foot is one square foot at one inch of depth. A 1,200 sq ft wall sprayed at 3 inches is 3,600 board feet. Depth depends on the R-value you're targeting, and open cell needs more depth than closed cell to hit the same R.

**Step 3: Price by foam type.** Open cell and closed cell carry different per-board-foot rates (closed cell costs more in material but delivers roughly double the R-value per inch). A proper quote presents both on one document, often as good/better options, with air sealing or old insulation removal as separate line items.

**Step 4: Add waste and yield factors.** Foam yield varies with temperature, substrate, and rig condition. Experienced estimators add a waste percentage; good software does it automatically.

**Step 5: Layer in labor, mobilization, and margin.** Drive time, setup, masking, and your actual target margin per job, not a guess.

Get any step wrong and you either underbid (the material eats your profit) or overbid (a competitor takes the job). That's the whole case for software: it makes steps 2 through 5 automatic and consistent.

Spray foam jobs happen where Wi-Fi doesn't: basements, barns, metal buildings, rooftops. Two features decide whether software works there:
